The EU.L.E. was founded in 1994 at Gemmingen Castle in Kraichgau as a non-profit association. The institute set itself the task of analysing the wealth of information and contradictory recommendations in the field of nutrition and making the results accessible to the public. The focus was on the desire for an independent, ideology-free evaluation of food, scientific studies as well as nutritional advice.
The well-known and controversial food chemist Udo Pollmer was appointed scientific director. For two decades he was in charge of the => EU.L.E.N-SPIEGEL information service. An interdisciplinary team from a wide range of disciplines examined the mass of dry data and, with a sharp pen, transformed it into articles that were easy to read for everyone. In this way, connections were uncovered that continue to fascinate the readers of EU.L.E.N-SPIEGEL. All issues are available for download in the => members' area.
In the meantime, the framework conditions have changed so much that EU.L.E.N-SPIEGEL is no longer published as a magazine. Today, the focus is on videos as well as extensive analyses including the sources used. The publicly accessible videos usually only reflect an excerpt of the material available in the members' area.
Our => videos are available via subtitles in many languages since 2022. The well-stocked Dutch website of EU.L.E. e.V. was started by Piet van Veghel and is still maintained by him today.
The topics of food and nutrition are much broader in the public discussion today, and hardly any area of life supposedly cannot be "favourably" influenced by "healthy nutrition", up to and which goes as far as "protection of the world climate". So the range of topics of EU.L.E. e.V. has expanded accordingly.
Our work is mainly done on a voluntary basis. With a supporting membership, a subscription or a donation you will help EU.L.E. e.V. to secure its independence! You will help combat the fear campaigns of the zeitgeist with expert information.
